Sony MDX C7900 R MiniDisc face-off player head unit
New-old stock BNIB MiniDisc player. Purchased as spare parts from a vehicle modifier in the late 90s and stored in our warehouse since then. They were making luxury limo-type vans, and this was the sound system of choice for them.
The R version we have here includes the very hard to find ‘rotary commander’ stalk control, these were nearly always left in the vehicle when the main head unit was removed, so are desirable on their own (no we aren’t selling these separately!).
There is no record function on this model unfortunately which makes sense as it’s an in-car player.
Opened one box to check and photograph contents. Multiple units still in stock with all but that one unopened and untouched. Interesting niche period item for your modern classic. These represented the core of Sony’s MDX Minidisc range and is the peak of 1998 in-car audio. These models would set you back around £299, or even a little more for the R version when new which is the equivalent of around £600 in today’s money.
Condition:
The condition of the parts inside the boxes is perfect but some of the boxes themselves have some discolouration, dust and minor surface marks caused by their long term storage. Authentic barn-findesque warehouse dust is included at no extra charge. Based on opening one of the worst condition boxes, the contents looks to be perfect as everything is plastic-wrapped but we have not tested any of the units to preserve their originality. Many have now been sold and we’ve never had any issues. Check the photographs for typical condition.
Includes Sony wiring harness adapter and all the standard manufacturer accessories. You will probably require additional adapters/harnesses specific to your vehicle which are still available cheaply on eBay.
