Description

Rover V8 Gearbox

NEW-OLD-STOCK 0 miles R380 5 speed manual gearbox for V8 petrol Rover engined vehicles. These units were specifically intended for LDV V8 vans (yes, that was a thing). Original spare parts bought as surplus direct after the company’s collapse and stored in our warehouse since then.

A low compression version of the Rover 3.5 litre V8 unit (taken from Land Rover) also became available on certain versions of the 300 Series (with a modified drivetrain) from 1986, producing 132 horsepower (98 kW). This version was designed for emergency services and express delivery operators, and was bought in large numbers by the police and ambulance services. Economy was very poor with this engine, with a claimed figure of only 14.1 miles per imperial gallon (20.0 l/100 km).

Our gearboxes have never been installed in a vehicle.

Will require maintenance, such as a fluid flush and refill before use.

LDV CER2346 part number suitable as an LT77 or R380 replacement.

Should mate with almost all Rover V8 vehicles as they share the bellhousing – so ideal for use in a kit car or modified application. Also fits V8 models of TVR, Morgan, Jensen and Triumph as well as even more. You will need the bell-housing and other parts from a donor (or your old broken) LT77. This engine is commonly in Land Rover Defender V8s also. We have sold several of these gearboxes and no two were for the same purpose!

Some images here include a bell housing but the unit pictured has now sold, sorry! I REPEAT! No bell housing is included! The image showing two in boxes (first image) are the ones still available for sale.
