Sony MDX C7900 R Mini Disc face-off head unit with Rotary Commander stalk
New-old stock as new, in box – Mini Disc player. Purchased as surplus parts from a luxury vehicle modifier in the late 90s and stored in our dry warehouse since then. They were making luxury limo-type vans, and this was the sound system of choice for them.
The R version we have here includes the hard to find ‘rotary commander’ stalk control new and unused in the box, these were nearly always left in the vehicle when the main head unit was removed so are very desirable on their own (no we aren’t selling these separately!).
There is no record function on this model which makes sense as it’s an in-car player.
Opened one box to check and photograph contents. Multiple units still in stock with all but this photographed one, unopened and untouched for almost three decades. Interesting talking point for a modern classic. Just imagine the hype when you pull up to the car show with a mini disc head unit blasting out the backstreet boys. This model represented the core of Sony’s MDX Minidisc range and it’s features are the epitome of 1998 in-car audio. Face-off units being the staple for this era. These exact models would set you back around £299 for the R version when new which is the equivalent of around £600 in today’s money.
Condition:
The condition of the parts inside the boxes is perfect. Some of the boxes themselves have discolouration, dust and minor surface marks caused by their long term storage. Authentic barn-findesque warehouse dust is included at no extra charge. Based on opening one of the worst condition boxes, the contents looks to be absolutely perfect. Everything inside is plastic-wrapped. We have not tested any of the units to preserve their originality. Many have now sold and we’ve not had any issues yet. Check the photographs for typical condition. Please bare in mind that these are the best part of 30 years old now.
Includes the Sony wiring harness adapter and all the standard manufacturer accessories. You will probably require an additional adapter/harness specific to your vehicle which are still available cheaply on eBay.

Due to the boxed and pre-packed nature of this item we are able to ship these at pretty reasonable rates anywhere in the UK.
